A second cadet has been found dead at the U.S. Air Force Academy within days after officials reported that a “firstie” who was due to graduate in May had died.
The Army in Stuttgart said it can no longer release the number of coronavirus cases based on a Defense Department directive that cited operational security concerns.
Spc. Clay Welch, 20, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., was found unresponsive in his barracks at Camp Humphreys on Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Army officials.
The Department of Veterans Affairs also suggested its facilities could see critical shortages of personal protective equipment for medical staff, hospital beds, ventilators and morgue space.
The cadet's death is not thought to be connected to the coronavirus.
