What is your policy on unpublishing or changing stories and photos from your newspaper or website?
Stories published by Stars and Stripes are archived online and are a matter of public record just like the Stars and Stripes’ newspaper. Online content is searchable. Readers sometimes ask that content be altered or removed from the archive in its entirety. As a general rule, Stars and Stripes will not alter or unpublish content except in extremely limited circumstances such as being verifiably inaccurate or libelous.
However, in some cases, articles may deserve an update or further reporting may be necessary if details related to a story have since changed. Such examples are usually related to legal matters where information concerning the outcome of the matter involving individuals may not be known for many months after the article was published. Providing an addendum to the story or altering such stories is intended to improve clarity and add context. Any decision to remove content deemed to be harmful to an individual must be weighed against the public’s right to know, the preservation of the historical record, and the reality that the article may be cached in search engines or on other websites, with or without our permission, where Stars and Stripes has no ability to change and will likely not disappear entirely from the Internet. Instances in which Stars and Stripes will not alter content include letters to the editor, quotes from sources, or other information in published articles, editorials or columns that is accurate or cannot be proved inaccurate.
If the information was reported accurately and gathered fairly, it is part of the public record and will not be altered. In all cases, editors will note that an article has been altered or removed.
How can I comment on articles in the Stars and Stripes newspaper and website?
At the bottom of each article on Stripes is a comments section that allows readers to share comments (will be displayed on the Stripes.com website and in our mobile apps). Registration with our third-party comment system Disqus is required (free).
We try to publish more than one viewpoint so that readers may decide for themselves; it is never our place – or intention – to tell people what to think. As a point of editorial policy, Stars and Stripes refrains from offering any opinion. Instead, we strive for balance by publishing opinions from at least two sides of every issue, especially on complex matters. Why do I keep seeing pop-up windows on your website asking me to subscribe?
If you have reached six article views on Stripes.com, a pop-up window will appear asking you to subscribe. Once this pop-up appears, you can choose to subscribe, read the sponsored ePaper edition, or wait 30 days for the counter to reset. If you decline to subscribe, you still have free access to nearly 80 articles a year, because the counter resets every 30 days. If you have additional comments or concerns, please contact us.
How do I sign up to participate in the Stripes Book Club giveaway?
The Stripes Book Club giveaway promotion is open to current U.S. government ID cardholders or authorized dependents. Non-U.S. government ID cardholders are ineligible for participation. Employees of Stars and Stripes, including news carriers and/or family members, or their partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, distributors, retailers, advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to participate.
- 1) Go to Stripes Book Club to enter for a chance to win. Only one entry is permitted per eligible participant per promotion.
- 2) Include your full name, email address and complete mailing address in addition to any other information requested at time of submission.

How do I advertise with Stars and Stripes?
Stripes Classifieds are FREE to use for U.S. government ID holders for private-party ads. To ensure your eligibility, be sure to use your APO/FPO address and select “Government/Military ID Card Holder” when you register. Some optional features have a small fee, like a Featured Listing, enhanced photo gallery and more. Select “Business Customer/Non-ID Card Holder” if you are a business and/or not a U.S. government ID holder and wish to advertise on Stripes Classifieds.
Your personal information is not shared or displayed to other users for online ads unless desired. When submitting print ads, you will be given the option to include contact information.

Does Stars and Stripes sell photographs?
Yes, our products include photographic prints, photos on canvas, custom framed photos, and mounted photos. Each product featured on our store is reproduced from the original photograph, digital file, or negative using state-of-the-art-technology. How do I get permission to use an image?
Stars and Stripes images are protected by copyright and may not be reproduced without permission. Reproductions of Stars and Stripes staff photographs are available through special request. Please fill out our Archive Request form and submit your request.
Does Stars and Stripes release photos?
Stars and Stripes will release photos. To release the image files, please email us with the following information:
- a) A list of the images including the link where they appear on our site.
- b) A statement saying:
I understand that the images I've requested are being furnished to me by Stars and Stripes under the strict premise that they are for personal use only. Should I wish to reuse the images in any other way, I agree to come back to Stars and Stripes for permission before doing so, as the image is protected by copyright and thus belongs to Stars and Stripes. I understand that these terms include publishing the image on any type of social media site or any type of online format.
Does Stars and Stripes offer printing services?
The Stripes Printshop is a component of Stars and Stripes Pacific and provides professional, high-quality printing. We print the daily Stars and Stripes newspaper and several Stripes weekly papers, in addition to many local command newspapers, Exchange sales flyers, DODEA yearbooks, and much more. What is your return policy on products purchased from the Stripes Store?
If you are dissatisfied with your order for any reason, you may return your items for a prompt refund or exchange. Refunds for items returned within thirty days of the purchase date will be credited in the same form as the original payment type. Refunds for items returned more than thirty days after the purchase date will be in the form of a credit redeemable on your next purchase.

What is your shipping policy?
Stars and Stripes relies on the U.S. Postal Service for shipping your order. We offer both Priority Mail, which generally arrives in 2 to 5 days, and Express Mail, which can usually arrive overnight.
You can trust that your order will be quickly processed and safely delivered. We can ship products anywhere in the United States — including to APO and FPO military addresses. Please note that APO and FPO shipping addresses are considered as DOMESTIC and not international. If you ship internationally, the cost will be significantly greater.
When you place an order we will estimate delivery dates based upon the availability of your items, shipping method selected and your shipment's destination. Our shipping charges are based solely on the amount charged to us by USPS.
