1969

1969 marked the beginning of the end of American involvement in Vietnam. President Richard Nixon announced he would begin withdrawing troops from South Vietnam. Rather than pursuing total victory the U.S. would gradually leave and hand over the war to the South Vietnamese. “Peace with honor” became the new motto.
