The U.S. Marine Corps has for the first time sent prepositioned military equipment to the southern Philippine island of Mindanao ahead of a major joint exercise later this month.

Two Marines assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni have been indicted on charges stemming from multiple thefts over the past year in Japan, according to U.S. military and Japanese authorities.

The Boxer leads the USS Boxer Amphibious Ready Group. This Wasp-class amphibious assault ship can carry F-35B Lightning II stealth fighters, MV-22B Osprey tiltrotors and various helicopters.

During an investigation, the Marine told police he found the 25mm round in the field about a year ago and kept it, thinking it wasn’t live.
