An intensive hunt for a man suspected of seriously injuring a 10-year-old girl with a knife in Schallodenbach ended with an arrest on Saturday morning.

Police arrested the 22-year-old suspect at 10 a.m. without resistance in the Schneckenhausen area, according to local news reports.

A tip from the public finally led investigators to the suspect, whom police had sought since Thursday using sniffer dogs, drones and a helicopter.

The girl’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said Thursday. She was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
