Police are still searching for a 22-year-old man who is suspected of stabbing a 10-year-old girl shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday in Schallodenbach.

Authorities are concentrating their search in the Otterbach-Otterberg area using drones, sniffer dogs and a helicopter.

The suspect is related to the victim, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. She was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital shortly after the attack.

A man matching his description was detained in Otterberg on Thursday afternoon but released after his identity was confirmed, police said.

The suspect may be experiencing a psychological crisis, according to officials. Police say there is no current danger to the public but are urging anyone who sees him not to approach and to call 110.
