NAPLES, Italy — Italian public works officials are monitoring street-side lampposts after two incidents in which strong winds toppled the posts.
One of the incidents resulted in a fatality, according to the Italian news service AGI. Several weeks ago, a woman riding a motorbike on Via Caracciolo, along the waterfront, was killed when a light pole toppled by strong winds hit her on the head.
Another pole blew over during Tuesday’s strong wind gusts, but no one was injured.
