A local carpet store donated $240 to the Army Community Group of Okinawa, according to group officials.
The owners of the Carpet Gallery, located near Camp Foster’s American Legion Gate, pledged 10 percent of Saturday and Sunday’s store purchases to raise funds for the nonprofit organization’s quality-of-life community programs for military family members, said Amy Garrett, the group’s secretary.
The Army Community Group of Okinawa partners with Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force social organizations to support charitable causes across the American military and local Okinawan communities, Garrett said.
The group, which recently changed its name from the Army Women’s Group in order to open up membership, was established in 1946.
