Summer may be winding down, but the fun is just getting started.
From wine-fueled fiestas to wool-filled wonderlands, here are the can’t-miss events heating up the Kaiserslautern Military Community over Labor Day weekend.
Wine and homeland festival: Sip crisp Riesling, dance to live music and feast on regional bites at this end-of-summer blowout in Cochem all weekend long. Sunday’s epic finale kicks off with a 2 p.m. parade and wraps with a sky-splitting fireworks show at 10 p.m. Free admission.
Woolcraft exposition: Wrap yourself in cozy inspiration at this wool-lover’s dream in Worms on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Shop artisan goods, join hands-on workshops and geek out with 50+ vendors ready to fuel your next fiber obsession. Tickets are 7 euros for one day or 12 euros for the weekend in advance (add 2 and 3 euros respectively at the door).
Circus: Step into a world of wonder with acrobats, clowns, aerialists and animal stars at this time-honored spectacle in Trier on Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Big-top magic meets edge-of-your-seat thrills. Tickets start at 30 euros.
Wine market: Toast the season with unlimited pours from 50+ wineries at this vibrant vino party in Mainz on Friday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Food tastings, music and festival vibes stretch late into the night. Free to enter; tasting passes start at 22 euros.
Zoo festival: Go wild with animal encounters, behind-the-scenes tours and up-close feedings at this family-friendly safari in Neunkirchen on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Add in delicious food and live music, and it’s a roaring good time. Normal zoo admission costs apply.
