Train travelers in Kaiserslautern should expect major disruptions this month as construction work shuts down long-distance and many local train routes.

Beginning today through June 13, Deutsche Bahn has canceled all long-distance trains via Kaiserslautern due to track work between Saarbrücken and Mannheim, according to a statement on its website.

Most local trains between Kaiserslautern and Neustadt also will be out of service during this time.

Buses will replace many of the canceled local routes, and additional service has been added, Deutsche Bahn said.

Drivers should also brace for inconvenience. The parking garage at Kaiserslautern’s main station remains closed for renovations through Aug. 6, limiting parking options downtown.

Impacted local routes include RB70 to Merzig, RB66 to Lauterecken-Grumbach, RB67 to Kusel, RB64 to Pirmasens, RB65 to Bingen and RE1 between Koblenz and Mannheim.
