The Opel Traffic Circle near Rhine Ordnance Barracks will be closed for road marking work on Sunday, July 7, starting at approximately 8 a.m. (Kaiserslautern Cityscape Maintenance)
Inclement weather postponed the road marking work that was supposed to happen last Sunday at and around the Opel Traffic Circle on Kaiserslautern’s west side.
The work and the road closures that go with it will now take place this Sunday, July 7, Kaiserslautern officials announced on the city’s website.
The large traffic circle near Rhine Ordnance Barracks will be closed for road marking work starting at approximately 8 a.m., Access to Merkurstrasse will only be possible from the direction of Hohenecken, but delays are expected. The full closure of the traffic circle is anticipated to be lifted by early afternoon.
In the afternoon, work will shift to the road near McDonald’s at the Kaiserslautern-West autobahn interchange. This will lead to additional road closures, but the area will remain accessible from Merkurstrasse or the autobahn. The entrance to Globus on Merkurstrasse will be fully closed for pavement marking.
The work will also affect public transportation. SWK bus line 101 and the Westpfalz Regionalbus lines 140 and 141, will not be able to access the stops located near the traffic circle.
