The Red Devils play their final game of the second division season Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at a sold-out Fritz Walter Stadium. The game against Eintracht Braunschweig is meaningless, as both teams narrowly avoided relegation last weekend when Eintracht beat Wiesbaden. FCK is in 15th place, with Braunschweig one slot above them.

While Kaiserslautern would like the win in front of a faithful home crowd, chances are the players will be thinking about next week’s big game, the German cup final in Berlin against Bundesliga champion Leverkusen.

If you have tickets for Sunday’s match, organizers are asking fans to get there early. There is no train service to Kaiserslautern’s main train station because of construction, and no parking at the Messeplatz because of the spring fair set up. Busses to the stadium from the park-and-ride lots at Kaiserslautern-Ost and Kaiserslautern-Universität will start operating at 1 p.m.

No matter the outcome of the game, expect partying in downtown Kaiserslautern.

The 2024/25 Bundesliga 2 season gets underway Aug. 2.
