Westpfalz police cracked down on seat belt use with around 800 vehicle checks in the Kaiserslautern area last week. Officers identified 135 seat belt violations, Westpfalz police said. The checks, focusing on seat belt compliance among drivers and passengers, were part of a broader initiative to improve road safety and reduce traffic-related fatalities across Europe. Those driving unbuckled now face a 30 euro fine.
