Starting Friday, the color of the mandatory insurance sticker for mopeds and e-scooters in Germany changes to blue, replacing the previous black stickers.

Every year, the insurance identification color for mopeds and e-scooters in Germany changes. As spring begins, marking the start of a new insurance year, the transition to the latest registration sticker is essential for legal and insured operation, according to the German automobile club ADAC.

Those caught riding with an outdated sticker face the risk of bearing full financial responsibility in the event of an accident and could face criminal charges, including up to a year in jail.

The new stickers are available online directly from insurers. For those who renew or register after March 1, insurance premiums will be adjusted to reflect the months remaining in the insurance year. Insurance costs start at approximately 45 euros for basic liability coverage, with comprehensive coverage options ranging between 80 and 100 euros.
