Emergency repairs on the city’s sewer system have led to the complete closure of Jahnstrasse, affecting the stretch between Erfenbach and Erzhütten, according to a statement by city management. The road is expected to remain shut in both directions until Thursday at 7 a.m.

Traffic between Erfenbach and Erzhütten is being diverted via Lauterstrasse in both directions.

The road was recently found to have sunk, attributed to the supporting sand washing into nearby drainage, a situation exacerbated by heavy rainfall over the past weeks, officials said.

Although initial repair work was scheduled for mid-April, the accelerated damage forced the city’s sewer authority to close the affected section of the road Sunday afternoon.
