Army veteran Andrew Brian Casler. (Obituary)

(Tribune News Service) — Andrew Brian Casler, of Syracuse, died unexpectedly on Aug. 3 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, two weeks shy of his 61st birthday.

Casler was born and raised in Marcellus, N.y., where he graduated from Marcellus High School in 1980.

He served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper.

Casler was a Mensa genius, according to his obituary. He was “a man who remembered many obscure and random bits of information, he was always the winner at Trivial Pursuit,” the obituary said.

He was an elevator mechanic and retired from International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 62.

Casler was a licensed pilot. He enjoyed sailing, snorkeling, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed long bike rides and his obituary said that he “would get on his bike to go for a ride and end up in Oswego.”
