This is a long holiday weekend across Europe and there are plenty of events to choose from.
Limburg an der Lahn, Germany, is hosting a triathlon this weekend. Organizers are offering a reduced price of 4.50 euros for all three events. You can walk five, 11 or 20 kilometers, bike 30 kilometers (take your own bike because there will not be any for rent this year), and then swim either 300 or 500 meters, and receive a commemorative triathlon certificate.
Participants who wish to take home the coffee cup in addition to the certificate will pay 6.80 euros. If a triathlon is a bit much, you can do any of the separate events for the regular Volksmarch price of 1.50 euros for IVV credit only, or 3.80 euros for IVV credit and the coffee cup.
There is a shuttle bus from the Markthalle (start hall) to the swim event at the Offheim pool.

Sunday’s walk in Amel, Belgium, is in the heart of the Ardennes. After the walk, visit one of the Battle of the Bulge museums in Baugnez, La Gleize or Poteau, Belgium. Built next to the site of the Malmedy Massacre, the Baugnez museum is the newest museum in the area. It has numerous dioramas, a video about the massacre, a bookstore and a cafe. But we highly recommend all three museums.

Here are some June walks to mark on the calendar. There will be more information on these walks in the column as the walks draw near: June 2, St. Odiliën- berg, Netherlands; June 7-8, Schömberg, Germany; June 7-8, Delft, Netherlands; June 8, Rheindahlen, Germany; June 14, Vianden, Luxembourg; June 14-15, Bad Kreuznach, Germany; June 28-29, Malsch, Germany; June 28-29, Idar-Oberstein (Weierbach), Germany.
Notes about this week’s events:
• Sunday’s walks in Schimmert and Vijlen, Netherlands, are only a few miles apart. Here’s a chance to explore the Limburg region of the Netherlands.
• The walk in Kemnath, Germany, is convenient for the Graf- enwöhr and Vilseck communities. The prize is a teddy bear.
Clark Soeldner’s Italian walking notes:
• The start for the walk in Cola di Lazzise del Garda on Sunday is by the group headquarters on Via Croce 16. The flier notes panoramas and visiting the Park Villa dei Cedri.
• The flier for the Chioggia walk says the final restoro will feature fish from the Adriatic Sea.
