Fair maidens, elves, pirates and creatures from alternate realms await visitors Saturday and Sunday to Vinci, Italy, near Florence.
The Tuscan city’s Unicorn Festival combines medieval merriment with a generous dose of fantasy. Activities will be spread out over five distinctive zones taking over the old town. The festival will feature a Middle Ages market, an elf parade, falconry demonstrations, dancing, jesters, a procession of witches, wandering musicians and fire displays. A chance to search for treasure awaits those who venture to the Bay of Pirates.
The event begins at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s program starts at 10 a.m. On both days, activities run late into the night.
Adult entry is 8 euros; visitors up to age 10 get in free. Save by booking tickets online in advance. For more, see www.festaunicorno.com (Italian only).
