SEOUL, South Korea — South Korean police are investigating allegations that a drunk U.S. soldier assaulted a taxi driver in Seoul on Sunday.
A South Korean police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the K-16-based soldier — Pvt. Michael Paul, 22 — allegedly grabbed a taxi driver’s neck and punched him in the back during an early-morning ride from Seoul’s Hongdae entertainment district.
When the taxi stopped at Suseo Subway Station, Paul allegedly fled but was quickly caught by police, who handed him over to U.S. forces after questioning, police said.
