A pun-tastic Facebook post by postal workers at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, informed patrons about a carbonated calamity that occured on June 17, 2025. (U.S. Air Force)

The military mail team at Kadena Air Base took a “pop” quiz in spill response this week after a rogue case of Dr Pepper exploded in transit, creating a super sticky situation for staff and patrons.

In a Facebook post Tuesday evening that bubbled with puns, the Kadena Post Office broke the news with a clever, jovial tone.

“Somedays you just want to say I ‘Can’-t even …,” said the post, accompanied by a photo of the aftermath.

The carbonated calamity, which apparently occurred en route to the Okinawa installation, sent soda spraying across other parcels, prompting a swift cleanup by postal workers.

“The mess was ‘Soda’-flating for our team but we are professionals!” the post continued.

Though the scene may have looked like a beverage battlefield, no packages were reported damaged — though a few might arrive a bit stickier than usual.

“Some packages may feel like they were ‘Pepper’-sprayed,” the post quipped, urging patrons not to be too “’Fizz’-ically shocked” at the pickup counter.

The post ended with a light-hearted disclaimer: “No shame to our soda lovers! Just giving you a heads-up …”
