MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI, Japan – Championships in Far East Boys Division II soccer continue to be the province of Christian Academy Japan.

William Arjmandpour scored four times and Eastin Lowther added a goal as the Knights won their second straight title, blanking Yokota 5-0 on Wednesday at Matthew C. Perry High School’s Samurai Field.

“Good group of guys,” said CAJ coach Charles Smoker. “We are blessed and just glad to be here at the tournament.”

It was the sixth time the Knights have won the D-II title, and their 10th Far East championship overall, including four Division I crowns in the mid-2000s.

And it was the fourth time the Panthers have faced the Knights this season, with just a 1-0 pool-play victory over CAJ to show for it.

“Quality team. Much respect to CAJ,” Yokota coach Trent Anderson said.

CAJ’s run of championships began in 2005 with an overtime victory over Kadena. It was the likes of Caleb Cummings, who is now CAJ’s athletics director, who helped spark the beginnings of the Knights’ soccer dynasty.

“We’re just privileged to carry the baton,” Smoker said. “Credit to the guys. You have to have the players and we’ve had the players.”
