DeShawn Baird, who helped lead Guam High’s football team to a 6-1 regular-season record, has been named the Interscholastic Sports Association’s offensive MVP in voting by the league coaches.

Baird, a junior, has rushed 57 times for 1,118 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Panthers, who are scheduled to face league regular-season Father Duenas Memorial in Saturday’s island championship game.

Baird was also named All-Island running back, one of five Panthers named to the coaches’ All-Island first team. The others were senior guard Dustin Cabrera, junior tight end Robert Ellis, sophomore receiver Benjamin Harris, senior kick returner Elijah Ferrel-Ayers and senior cornerback Joey Delia.

Junior running back Cameron Brantley was named to the All-Island second team, along with senior kicker Cameron Wharton, sophomore tackle Jalen Mann and senior linebacker Terrell Rosario.

Panthers selected Honorable Mention were senior center Troy Camacho, senior tackle Justin Suba and junior tackle Oen Hofschneider. Cabrera was also named Honorable mention at nose guard and Delia Honorable Mention at running back.
