Host Kaiserslautern fought off consecutive challenges from a tough Lakenheath softball squad Saturday in securing 13-9 and 7-5 victories.

Returning All-Europe senior Saige Isla starred in her return to the diamond, smashing three hits, including a triple, and driving in a pair of runs. Pitcher Lexus Quesada struck out seven to keep the U.K. visitors at bay.

Sisters Alexis Liggins (two doubles, two runs, two RBI) and Tori Liggins (two hits, run, RBI) provided the firepower in the nightcap as Kaiserslautern recovered from a 5-1 Lakenheath lead after the first inning. The Red Raiders tied the game in the fifth, pulled ahead with a sixth-inning run and added an insurance run in the seventh.

Pitchers Bailey Loomis, Elizabeth Pendergrass, Sabrina Martinez and Savannah Brooks combined for the two shutouts on the mound. The legion of Royal offensive heroes included Martinez (5-6, double, three triples, nine RBI), Brooke Strasburger (4-6, six runs), Mackenzie Bester-Knight (4-7, five runs), Breanna Martinez (5-7, four RBI, six stolen bases) and Kelsey Freeman (three-run home run).
