DODEA-Europe’s medium sized schools didn’t have a season-ending football championship game this season.

Instead, the four Division II schools in Italy in Spain finished the year Saturday with two regular-season matchups.

Vicenza 28, Naples 22: Saturday in Vicenza, the Cougars held off the Wildcats – handing them their first loss of the season in the process.

Vicenza led 14-0 after a quarter and 22-8 at halftime. But Naples came back to tie the game at 22-22 at the end of three quarters.

Chris White put Naples on the board with an 86-yard interception return just before the half. Corbin Gustafson connected with Keshawn Holland for a third-period score and Keith Rascoe rushed for a 38-yard touchdown.

Matteo Tolliver and Holland had 12 tackles each for the Naples defense.

There was no information provided from Vicenza.

Aviano 12, Rota 6: Saturday at Rota, the Saints finished the season victorious in the game played six on six during a fall storm in Spain.

It was tied at 6-6 through three quarters and Aviano scored in the final seconds to win.

Eric North ran in one touchdown and Julian Riley tossed a pass to Den Draper for another. Rota’s score came on a long run by KJ Bryant.

North had 80 yards receiving and 44 rushing for Aviano. Bryant had 105 yards rushing for Rota and Matthew Taylor caught two passes for 37 yards.
