SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany - The AFNORTH Lions found the wide-open style of six-man football a lot more confining this weekend thanks to the Spangdahlem Sentinels defense.

AFNORTH, coming off a 76-point scoring blitz against Hohenfels during its Division III season opener, scored less than a third of that Saturday in a 38-21 Sentinels victory.

Spangdahlem outscored AFNORTH 13-0 in both quarters before halftime and led 32-0 after three quarters.

Carson Hicks rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns and was credited with 9.5 tackles on defense for the Sentinels. Adam Jalomo rushed for 83 yards, caught passes for 40 more and also scored twice. Jalien Jackson threw for 74 yards and three scores.

Marques Williams accounted for 138 total yards for the Lions and two touchdowns. He also made seven tackles on defense. Alex Roberts had 110 total yards. Nathan Goldsmith scored a touchdown.

Ansbach 32, Brussels 12: Saturday at Ramstein Air Base, the Cougars bounced back from an opening week loss to Baumholder by stifling their Belgian-based opponents on neutral ground.

Shane Nesbitt scored twice on offense for Ansbach and also returned an interception for a score. Yannic Miranda added another touchdown on offense and Ryann Surens-Garcia scored off another interception.
