YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — Camp Casey teams had a field day Monday in the Korea-wide post-level interservice basketball tournament, taking both the men’s and women’s championship games, both at the expense of host Yongsan Garrison.
West Camp Casey’s men downed the Yongsan Runnin’ Rebels 86-74, while the Camp Casey Warrior women whipped the Yongsan Lady Rebels 72-57, capping the three-day event held at Collier Field House on Yongsan South Post.
The Warrior women led their championship game throughout, in front by up to 19 in one stretch. The Rebels rallied but got no closer than to nine. All-Army player Christy Maxwell scored 22 points and grabbed five rebounds.
The men’s championship started out as a tight one, until West Casey pulled ahead 50-34 early in the second half. Marcus Reed poured in 33 points and Terrell Moorer added 24 for the Warriors.
