The author of “He refuses to pay taxes” (letter, March 6), a Department of Defense civilian, feels if he has to endure the same living conditions as servicemembers (for example, being mortared, being shot at in helicopters, the same food, and portable toilets), he, too, should receive the tax-free zone benefit that we servicemembers earn while in the combat zone.
