The arguments presented in "Do what’s morally right" (letter, Oct 16) are mostly straw men.
Profanity and adultery are not at all related to the rights of homosexuals. The do-what’s-right argument is turned upon its head.
There is no moral aspect to homosexuality. Integrity, however, is actually an issue here. The laws and regulations as written allow homosexuals to serve [in the military] if they lie about their sexual orientation. While in many cases this is a lie of omission, it almost certainly weighs on folks’ conscience.
