Four B-52 Stratofortress aircraft and aircrew from the 20th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron deployed to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., were to fly to Hawaii and back this week as part of the latest Koa Lightning exercise, according to a 36th Operations Group press release.

The B-52s were to fly more than 18 hours and 6,880 nautical miles nonstop on the trip and take on more than 180,000 pounds of fuel, according to the release.

The Pacific Command’s Koa Lightning exercise consists of air-to-air intercept training with F-15s based out of Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, the release said.
