KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — The 21st Theater Support Command grew Monday by a brigade-sized element.

At a ceremony in Bamberg, Germany, authority of the 7th Corps Support Group was transferred from the 1st Armored Division to Kaiserslautern’s 21st Theater Support Command.

In the past year, the 7th Corps Support Group has supported 1st AD, 1st Infantry Division, V Corps and U.S. Army Europe.

“This transfer marks the first and largest muscle movement in our transformation campaign, and the capabilities you bring to the 21st TSC are phenomenal — not because of the equipment or how you’re organized but because of your people,” said Brig. Gen. Scott West, 21st TSC commander, in a speech at the ceremony.

The move is part of the Army’s logistics transformation in Europe.

The 7th Corps Support Group was part of the 3rd Corps Support Command, which as an organization will be garrisoned in the States 12 months from now.

Plans to transition command and control of many 3rd COSCOM units to the 21st TSC are solidifying, according to comments in a unit publication by Col. Martin Pitts, 3rd COSCOM rear detachment commander.
