KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Defense Department schools officials are planning a memorial service early next week for a Bitburg teacher who passed away over the weekend.
Language arts teacher Mimi Attleson had taught at Bitburg Middle/High School since 2002, following a stint working for Department of Defense Dependents Schools in the Pacific. During her career, she also taught AP English literature, French and reading. She died Saturday.
“She was a very popular teacher who inspired many students,” Bitburg principal Jennifer Remoy was quoted as saying in a news release. “Many of the faculty here were also very close to her and counted her as a loving friend.
“Her genuine caring and compassion, her honesty and belief in her students will be greatly missed,” Remoy said.
A memorial service will be held at the school on June 8 at 3:30 p.m.
