KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Fall suddenly turned to winter in Kaiserslautern, Germany, on Wednesday, as residents, including the animals in the wildlife park, woke up to about 3 inches of snow.

The Wildpark am Betzenberg was created in 1970 so that Kaiserslautern’s residents and visitors could observe indigenous wild animals, as well as some that were native to the area in the past.

The nearly 62-acre park is home to wild boars, lynx, various forms of deer and the endangered wisent, also known as the European bison, among other species.

The park is open daily; admission is free.
