Just in time for summer, troops stationed at Morón Air Base in Spain will be able to use a swimming pool that has been undergoing repairs for 18 months.
The 60-foot by 80-foot pool, with a detached children’s wading pool, cost more than $600,000, said Craig Johnson, chief of construction at the base, located southeast of Seville.
"The pool was completely rebuilt to meet current federal requirements," Johnson said. "[T]he project included rebuilding the pool, mechanical system, deck, new water slides and diving boards, covered lounging area, etc."
A grand opening was held May 22. Use of the pool is free to all active-duty members, civilians, contractors and their dependents.
It is open daily from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
