A "Celebration of Change Ball" is planned for 7 p.m. Saturday in the Enlisted Club Ballroom at Misawa Air Base, Japan.

The unofficial event was organized by Kinsley and Pamela Tucker to celebrate the election of President Barack Obama and recognize changes that have taken place globally, nationally and in the Misawa community over the past year.

"While I am acutely aware of the economic challenges we are facing, I am equally aware of our progressive strides," Pamela Tucker, an educator in the language arts department at Robert D. Edgren High School, said in an e-mail.

Saturday’s ball will feature a live band, disc jockey, poet, food, fellowship and other activities. Formal attire is requested for attendees. The cost is $30 per individual and $40 per couple.
