Twelve F-22 Raptors from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, arrived at Guam’s Andersen Air Force Base on Saturday, according to an Air Force press release.

More than 270 airmen from the 90th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron will accompany the jets for a three-month deployment in support of the Pacific Global Deterrence mission, the release stated.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Philip Ruhlman, 36th Wing commander, said the F-22 presence on Guam will dissuade "potential adversaries and assures our regional partners and allies within the region."

The Raptors were scheduled to arrive last week but were delayed by inclement weather.
