It appears the second coming of F-22A Raptors to Andersen Air Force Base on Guam will have to wait a little longer.

The arrival of a Raptor squadron to the island has been postponed indefinitely due to inclement weather and scheduling conflicts at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, according to a 36th Wing news release Saturday.

The Air Force’s newest fighter jets had been set to make a second deployment to Guam last week.

A new arrival date will be announced in the near future, the Air Force said.

The stealth fighters and their support personnel are part of Elmendorf’s 90th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron.

They’re scheduled for a three-month stay on Guam as part of the Air Force’s regular rotation of aircraft to Andersen, which has no permanent air squadron of its own.

The rotation will bring about a dozen of the $140 million jets and more than 250 airmen to the island.

The F-22A Raptors will participate in upcoming military exercises, including Cope Thaw and Jungle Shield, according to the release.
