DODDS students must use bus passesStarting Feb. 1, DODDS will begin enforcing a policy that requires middle and high school students to present a pass in order to board school buses, officials said.
If the student has lost the pass, a military dependent’s identification card will be accepted until a new pass can be obtained, according to a Department of Defense Dependents Schools release.
The procedure is currently DODDS policy, but school officials want to remind students and parents about the importance of safety and security, said DODDS-Okinawa spokeswoman Laura Stoller.
Replacement bus passes can be obtained at the Camp Foster or Kadena student transportation offices from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
To contact Camp Foster’s student transportation office, call 645-7820 or 645-2036; or e-mail Foster-STO@pac.dodea.edu. To contact Kadena Air Base’s transportation office call 632-9034 or 632-9035; or e-mail Kadena-STO@pac.dodea.edu.

"We have a lot of Japanese spouses and they want to be certified in CPR and first aid, and because their language skills aren’t up to the standards of English, this is easier for them to comprehend and to pass the test," said assistant station manager Sharon Coganow.
The course fee is $25. Class size is limited to 10 people. Training includes lectures, video, demonstrations and hands-on practice. Participants must pass a written test, offered in Japanese, in order to become certified. To register, call 645-3800.
