Pacific brief: GI gets six months confinement for assault

An Army private first class was sentenced to six months of confinement for assaulting another soldier, according to 2nd Infantry Division officials.
Pfc. Jack Johnson, of the 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, was convicted at a court-martial Wednesday of one specification of assault with a means likely to produce death or grievous bodily harm.
Jackson "struck another soldier with a blunt object" on Aug. 24, according to 2nd ID officials.
He also was sentenced to forfeiture of $700 a month for six months and reduction to the rank of private.
