YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A Yokota technical sergeant will face an Article 32 hearing Tuesday over allegations he sexually abused two young girls, base officials said.

The airman is charged with rape of a child under age 12, aggravated sexual contact with a child under 12 and indecent acts with a child, according to Yokota officials.

The airman is not being named to protect the identity of the alleged victims, in accordance with Stars and Stripes policy.

He also is accused of violating a no-contact order on two occasions and of conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline.

The crimes allegedly took place between 2005 and 2008, base officials said. No other details were provided.

An Article 32 is similar to a grand jury proceeding under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. There is no judge, but an investigating officer will review the inquiry, hear arguments and then determine if there is enough evidence to go forward with a court-martial.

The new supply point opening at Camp Casey in South Korea this month will be a satellite of the 2nd Infantry Division’s main Central Issue Facility at Camp Stanley, said Dale Raffield, CIF manager for the U.S. Army Garrison-Red Cloud.

The facility will occupy half of the first floor of Building 2603 and will include a waiting area with couches and a 40-inch flat-screen TV; a small customer service area; a room for picking up items that had not been available when the soldier processed in; and another room for direct exchanges.

The satellite will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
