A Baumholder, Germany-based soldier died Saturday of a noncombat related illness, the Defense Department said Monday.

Pfc. Coleman W. Hinkefent, 19, of Coweta, Okla., died in Homburg, according to a Pentagon news release. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder.

He had been deployed in Iraq, the release stated.

Stuttgart GI sentenced for sexual offenseKAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — An Army specialist was reduced to the lowest rank and sentenced to 90 days’ hard labor after being convicted of engaging in sexual acts with a girl between the age of 12 and 15.

During a court-martial last week, a jury of officers convicted Spc. Carlos Santiago for the mid-April incident which occurred near Stuttgart.

Santiago, of Stuttgart’s 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, was also given 60 days’ restriction to his place of duty, dining facility and place of worship, and was ordered to forfeit $500 per month for two months.
