CAMP HANSEN, Okinawa — The Marines of Battalion Landing Team 3/1 put their best feet forward at a Commander’s Cup Drill Competition Wednesday on Camp Hansen.
Platoons from six companies showed their close-order drill and marching skills. In the end, K Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marines, took honors as the top platoon with the high score of 68 out of 100.
K Battery’s Sgt. Jason Thompson scored highest among unit leaders with an 88 out of 100. He is scheduled to transfer in April to become a drill instructor.
The landing team is based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif, but is currently deployed to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit on Okinawa.
