CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The American Red Cross will offer a two-day baby sitter training course for youth Dec. 29-30.
The class will cover child development and safety, diapering, responding to emergencies, and child and infant cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation and basic first aid, according to a news release.
The class will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 29 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 30 at Camp Foster’s building 5674.
Participants must attend both sessions and be at least 11 years old, the release said. Fee is $45. To register, call 645-3800.
Foster library to close for face-lift next weekCAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The Camp Foster library will be closed Dec. 19-Jan. 31 for renovation.
Books checked out at the library Dec. 9–18 will be due Feb. 1. Movies and music checked out Dec. 14-18 also are due Feb. 1.
Marine Corps Community Services libraries at camps Kinser and Courtney and Marine Corps Air Station Futenma will be open during the renovation.

Volunteers sought to visit elderly for holidaysOsan community volunteers are being sought to join a holiday visit to the Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Elderly in Suwon on Saturday.
The chapel choir will perform and Santa will hand out gifts, including cookies, candies and oranges donated by the local community. Donations can be dropped off at the chapel annex between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday.
Organizers would like anyone who wishes to join the visit to be at the chapel by 8:10 a.m. Saturday and suggest all bring bag lunches.
The home also runs a craft shop, which accepts only South Korean won.

‘Commissary Idol’ auditions plannedJunior troops have one more chance to audition for the "Commissary Idol" karaoke contest at Yongsan Garrison, according to a military news release.
Military members ranks E-1 to E-6 can audition Saturday at 2 p.m. at the commissary.
Those selected Saturday will join the finalist from an earlier audition at a Dec. 20 final competition.
The grand prize is a $200 gift certificate.
Everyone who auditions will receive a $25 gift certificate and free soft drinks.

Motorcycle club set to deliver donated toysSEOUL — Members of the Yongsan Motorcycle club will escort Santa Claus from the Yongsan Commissary to the Post Exchange on Saturday to deliver donated toys to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Riders will assemble at the commissary parking lot starting at 9 a.m., then ride to Toy for Tots collection point at the exchange parking lot at 10 a.m.
All motorcycles and scooters are welcome to participate.
