The Navy will require residents at three Guam housing areas to follow strict water-conservation measures from Thursday through the weekend to accommodate a scheduled treatment plant shutdown.
The shutdown will begin 8 a.m. Friday and affect the Agat, Santa Rita and Nimitz Hill housing areas, the Navy said in a news release.
Additionally, the reservoir tanks will be affected due to the lack of replenishment normally provided by the treatment plant.
The tanks will continue to provide support to Guam’s electrical plants at Cabras, Piti, Tanguisson; firefighting systems; and the naval hospital.
The shutdown is necessary to improve treatment processes, upgrade control instrumentation and provide redundancy, the Navy said.
