HUNTINGDON — Cambridgeshire authorities are seeking the public’s help after a 14-year-old girl was attacked by three youths.
The victim was walking with two friends along Coneygear Road around 8:15 p.m. on Jan. 17 when three people — two boys and a girl — jumped out of the bushes and assaulted the girl, according to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary news release.
Two men who witnessed the attack intervened and the youths ran off, the release stated.
“This attack was particularly nasty, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area who remembers anything,” police spokeswoman Joanna Grant said in the release. “I would also like to speak to the two men who helped this girl.”

Shopkeeper doesn’t wait for policeMARCH — A shopkeeper in this Cambridgeshire village turned away a would-be robber earlier this month and chased the “hooded youth” off, authorities said.
The incident occurred about 5:25 p.m. on Jan. 16 when the suspect entered the Mini Mart on Norwood Road and demanded the cashier hand over cash, according to a Cambridgeshire Constabulary news release.
The shopkeeper refused and promptly chased the youth off, according to the Cambridge Constabulary.
Detective Constable Jon Edwards is appealing for anyone with information to contact authorities.
“This was a frightening experience for the shopkeeper, who bravely stood his ground and gave chase to the would-be thief, and we need to find the person responsible,” Edwards said in the release.
The youth is described as white, between 17 and 21 years of age, clean shaven and wearing a black, hooded top.

Officers injured trying to break up brawlHARLESTON — Two police officers were assaulted while trying to break up a brawl between about 15 men at a recreation ground, Norfolk authorities said.
The fight occurred around 11 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the Wilderness Lane Recreation Ground in Harleston, according to a Norfolk Constabulary news release.
During the incident two cars were damaged, a female police officer was punched in the face, and another female officer was kicked and pushed. A 16-year-old boy received head injuries and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment and was later discharged, according to the constabulary.
Three people, all from the Diss area, were arrested in connection with the incident and have now been released on police bail.
