A memorial service to honor Col. Brian D. Allgood is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Patrick Henry Village chapel in Heidelberg, Germany.
The service previously was announced as being a private ceremony.
Allgood, the command surgeon for Multi-National Force-Iraq, was among 12 people killed when a Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Baghdad last weekend.
Allgood had been serving in Iraq for about six months before the crash Saturday northeast of Baghdad.
His job was to oversee medical practices and policies for the Multi-National Force, advising the MNF-I commanding general.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Program in memory of Allgood.
