CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — A New Year’s Resolution Fair is scheduled for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Camp Foster Community Center, according to a Marine Corps Community Services announcement.
Free cholesterol and glucose screenings will be available at the fair but participants must fast for 12 hours before being screened.
Lecture topics include fitness, stress management, nutrition, lowering blood pressure and personal finance.

Movie and game swap on Kadena Air BaseKADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — A DVD, VHS and video-game swap is scheduled for Sunday at the Schillings Community Center on Kadena Air Base, according to a community center announcement.
People can buy sell or trade used DVDs, VHS tapes or video games but new or copied movies and games are not allowed.
The event, which requires no advance registration, is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m.

Guam EOD team retrieves a grenadeMembers of Andersen Air Force Base’s 36th Wing explosive ordnance disposal team responded Wednesday to the discovery of a hand grenade near Mangilao on Guam, according to a base news release.
The team retrieved without incident a Japanese Type 97 hand grenade, which dates to World War II, when Japan occupied the island.
If an unexploded device is found off-base, people always should contact Guam Police Department’s non-emergency number at 475-8616 or 472-8911, the news release stated.
MLK holiday events happening on islandSome upcoming events honoring Martin Luther King Day on Okinawa:
¶ On Monday, Camp Butler Mess Hall 488 will offer a special menu from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for active-duty Marines and sailors.
¶ Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa will hold a march around Camp Shields, followed by a “moment of reflection,” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. A luncheon at the Crow’s Nest will follow. During the luncheon, speakers from different age groups will give brief speeches about what Martin Luther King Day means to them. A group of Stearley Heights Elementary School students will give a presentation during the ceremony.
¶ Kadena Air Base has three events scheduled for Wednesday. Marine Sgt. Maj. Kimberly L. Bush will speak at a ceremony at the Keystone Theater that starts at 2 p.m. A Silent Unit March will form outside the theater at about 2:45 p.m. There will be a retreat ceremony at 3:30 p.m. at the Noncommissioned Officers Academy, located in Building 719.

AAFES lists hottest selling CDs downrangeAccording to an Army & Air Force Exchange Service news release, deployed servicemembers purchased approximately 1.7 million CDs at 54 post and base exchanges scattered throughout the Middle East.
While two of the top sellers were country music, rap and rhythm and blues were the two most popular genres, AAFES reported.
