SEOUL — Striking taxi drivers in Area I and Area II voted this week to continue their walkout, with more than 70 percent of their 270 members saying the union should not authorize a return to work without a pay raise, according to a senior union member.
The Worldcup Arirang Tourism Co. drivers began striking July 13 and 14 after repeated pay raise rejections.
Arirang’s executive director has said the company is losing money because of the weakening dollar in South Korea and cannot afford any raise.
Negotiations between the two sides are continuing, however.
A sixth meeting was scheduled for Wednesday night, the union said.
