ARLINGTON, Va. — Secretary of the Army Francis Harvey has selected Command Sgt. Maj. Leon Caffie of the 377th Theater Support Command in New Orleans, La., to be the next Command Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve.

Caffie will replace Command Sgt. Maj. Michelle Jones, who has served in the assignment since October 2002, according to a Thursday Army Reserve announcement.

Caffie was drafted into the Army in 1970 and served a 10-month tour in Vietnam. He joined the Army Reserve in 1972 and has served in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was Command Sergeant Major of Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

As the Army Reserve’s top noncommissioned officer, Caffie will represent the interests of more than 153,000 enlisted soldiers, serving as chief adviser to Lt. Gen. Jack Stultz, Chief of the Army Reserve, on all enlisted matters.
