A district superintendent with the Department of Defense Dependents Schools-Europe will become its deputy director.

Linda Curtis, superintendent of the DODDS-Europe Isles District, will fill the position at DODDS-Europe headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany, starting in August, Diana Ohman, director, announced Friday.

A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., Curtis holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in elementary education, as well as an additional master’s degree in school administration from Indiana University.

She received her doctorate of education in educational leadership from Argosey University in Sarasota, Fla.

Curtis has served as superintendent and assistant superintendent of the DODDS-Europe Brussels District and was principal at Shape American Elementary School in Mons, Belgium, and Spangdahlem Elementary School in Spangdahlem, Germany. She also has taught grades K-6, special education, and gifted and talented students.

Curtis said in a DODDS release that she will emphasize the role of parents and technology in improving education.
