YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — Navy Vice Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert, U.S. Seventh Fleet commander, will be reassigned as deputy chief of naval operations for integration of capabilities and resources in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon, according to a Thursday news release from the Department of Defense.
Greenert, a native of Butler, Pa., assumed command of Seventh Fleet on Aug. 6, 2004.
He will be succeeded by Rear Adm. William D. Crowder, currently the assistant deputy chief of naval operations for plans, policy, and operations in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon.
A change-of-command ceremony has not yet been scheduled, a Seventh Fleet spokesman said Friday.
